This role offers the opportunity to work alongside accomplished attorneys in a fast-paced, collaborative environment while supporting complex insurance defense litigation cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys in all phases of insurance defense litigation, from case inception through trial.
- Draft, review, and prepare legal documents, pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and trial exhibits.
- Conduct legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to insurance defense matters.
- Manage and organize case files, medical records, expert reports, and deposition summaries.
- Coordinate and track court deadlines, depositions, hearings, and trial schedules.
- Assist in fact investigation, witness interviews, and document review to support case development.
- Prepare for trials, mediations, and depositions, including organizing trial binders and exhibits.
- Review and summarize medical records, accident reports, and insurance policies.
- Work closely with clients, insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, and expert witnesses.
- Manage electronic discovery (e-discovery) and document production using legal case management software.
Qualifications:
- Education: Paralegal certificate or associate/bachelor's degree in legal studies or a related field.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience as an insurance defense paralegal in a law firm setting.
- Skills:Strong knowledge of insurance defense litigation, court procedures, and case management.
- Proficiency in legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis), e-filing systems, and document management software.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience reviewing and summarizing medical records and insurance policies is a plus.
