Job Description: We are seeking a motivated, dedicated and proactive associate attorney with at least three years practicing insurance defense in New York State. The position involves making in-person court appearances in the New York City metropolitan area, taking depositions and regularly reporting to claims representatives. Required experience includes depositions, court appearances and motion practice. Depending on the interest of the candidate, the position may also involve work on the firm's municipal liability/1983 matters and insurance coverage analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- In-person court appearances in state and federal courts throughout New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester and Rockland.
- Manage and litigate automobile and premises cases from inception through trial and appeal, including pre-trial, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, trial and appellate argument
- Frequent and timely reporting to clients and insurance carriers
- Regular entry of billable hours
Qualifications:
- Minimum three years experience in insurance defense in New York State
- Ability to make regular in-person appearances in New York City metropolitan area courts
- Admission to New York State bar
- Admission to federal bar helpful but not required
Salary Range: $130,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year, commensurate with experience. Exact compensation will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure, business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. Attorneys can augment their salaries by reaching reasonable billable-hour plateaus.
