The Risk Manager will be responsible for managing the organization's insurance arrangements, as well as identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that may impact the organization's operations, compliance, and overall mission. This role will develop and implement risk management strategies to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and facilities across multiple shelter locations. This includes policy management and administration, contract risk management, captive insurance, sourcing, and renewals. This role will also manage local insurance policies across subsidiaries and collaborate closely with brokers and advisors to optimize coverage, manage risk, and align insurance strategies with the company's broader financial and operational goals.
Insurance Program Administration: Oversee the lifecycle of insurance policies, including placement, renewal, and administration of D&O, E&O, Cyber, PI, Crime, P&C, and Alternative Risk Products in coordination with brokers and advisors. Design and maintain an insurance information management system, coordinating with the organization's insurance broker to secure cost estimates and bind coverage for new program locations. Maintain the statement of values in collaboration with the insurance broker and regularly review policies.
What You'll Do: - Develop and oversee risk management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments of shelter sites, identifying potential hazards and implementing corrective actions.
- Monitor incidents, claims, and liabilities related to safety, security, and compliance.
- Collaborate with shelter directors, legal teams, and compliance officers to address risk-related concerns.
- Implement training programs for staff on risk mitigation, emergency preparedness, and workplace safety.
- Investigate workplace incidents, client complaints, and security breaches, recommending corrective actions.
- Ensure proper documentation and reporting of all risk-related incidents and follow up on resolutions.
- Work with insurance providers to assess coverage needs and manage claims processing.
- Stay updated on best practices in risk management and recommend improvements to policies and procedures.
You're a great fit if you have: - Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or safety oversight, preferably in a non-profit or human services setting.
- Strong knowledge of shelter operations, regulatory compliance, and safety standards.
- Experience working in the shelter, housing, or social services sector.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
