We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to design, develop, and implement control systems for automated equipment and processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in PLC programming, HMI development, and integrating industrial control systems with mechanical and electrical components.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate design specifications, control sequences, and integration plans for data center systems (eg, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, chilled water, BMS, EMS).
  • Coordinate with MEP contractors, commissioning agents, and system integrators to ensure controls systems are installed and programmed to spec.
  • Develop and review control logic, I/O lists, and interface requirements for PLCs, DDCs, and SCADA systems.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs).
  • Support commissioning, start-up, and handover activities, ensuring systems operate within design parameters.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve controls-related issues during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Ensure all work is in compliance with data center standards (eg, Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, NFPA, IEEE).

  • Carry out your duties to meet Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements at all times.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3-7+ years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in mission-critical or large-scale construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Management Systems (EMS), and integration protocols (BACnet, Modbus, SNMP).
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and standards (ASHRAE Guideline)
  • Experience working with major BMS platforms (eg, Siemens, Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Schneider Electric).
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water plants, and backup power systems (UPS, generators).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across trades and disciplines.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in hyperscale data center projects
  • Familiarity with electrical monitoring systems and integration with SCADA/DCS.
  • Knowledge of data center Tier standards (Uptime Tier III/IV).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Revit for reviewing MEP layouts.
