We are seeking a skilled and experienced Design Support Engineer to join our Capital Design Changes team within the Design Support Engineering group. This role supports both emergent and planned design changes, including rapid response initiatives and Engineering Fix-It-Now (EFIN) projects. The ideal candidate will serve as both a Responsible Engineer and a supporting engineer, contributing to the successful execution of short-duration, small-scope design changes that support near-term plant operational needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development: Lead and support the design and layout of systems and equipment, including digital component/device replacements, instrumentation & control upgrades, and electrical engineering changes.
  • Project Leadership: Provide subject matter expertise throughout the project lifecycle-from feasibility studies and design reviews to implementation and field support.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all engineering work complies with nuclear industry safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare, review, and maintain detailed design documents, specifications, and calculations.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering teams to deliver integrated and compliant design solutions.
  • Design Reviews & Improvements: Conduct and lead design reviews, evaluate risks, and recommend improvements. Review vendor designs for compatibility with project goals and plant systems.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in nuclear design engineering.
  • Prior qualifications and experience with nuclear engineering change processes.
  • Proficiency in digital design methodologies and cyber security requirements for nuclear applications.
  • Strong understanding of industry codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PE License or equivalent certification.
  • Experience with rapid response engineering processes (e.g., EFIN).
  • Familiarity with digital I&C systems and component integration in nuclear environments.
