Additionally, good mechanical skills are essential, as well as the ability to read and understand electrical diagrams and P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Four-year technical degree (Electrical Engineering or Technology) or the equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of four years previous experience working as an instrument and electrical technician or equivalent job function.
  • Four years' experience preferred in an industrial manufacturing environment. Supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Proficient with Fisher- Rosemont's DeltaV, distributed control systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee the Plant instrument and electrical department. Define I & E personnel roles and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate and oversee activities to maintain and improve the plant instrument/electrical systems.
  • Decrease plant expense and downtime, while continuously improving unit control for better quality and throughput.
  • Supervise electric and instrument personnel. Direct activities and scheduling.
  • Review work orders and coordinate repairs with the production department.
  • Provide and or conduct safety and technical training for I & E personnel.
  • Maintain electrical/instrument parts inventory. This includes specifying, purchasing, and keeping current with technological advances.
  • Continuously improve the unit distributed control system (DCS). Determine and make the necessary improvements to stay current with process demands.
  • Assist the Maintenance Superintendent with unit turnaround budget estimates, coordination and implementation.
  • Oversee process equipment inspection and calibration, as well as, document control as it pertains to ISO certification.
