Position Summary: The Business Communications Program in the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University seeks a full-time Instructor of Business Communications. This is a non-tenure-track, nine-month position with a start date of August, 2025. Responsibilities: This non-tenure track instructor position typically teaches six undergraduate and/or graduate business communications classes in an academic year. Classes may be offered during the day (Monday through Friday and weekends) and in evening (Monday through Thursday). Classes are offered in fall and spring semesters. Summer-term and intersession classes may be included for additional compensation, subject to budgetary sufficiency. In addition to teaching in the classroom or online using Canvas LMS, significant supplemental academic work assignments are required, which may include the following: coaching individual students, evaluating written assignments and oral presentations from selected core graduate business courses, tracking student progress in subsequent courses, collaborating with other college faculty, tracking assessment data, contributing to curriculum materials and development of courses, and meeting academic service requirements. Instructors must maintain a qualified faculty status (Scholarly Academic, Practice Academic, Scholarly Practitioner, or Instructional Practitioner) for AACSB accreditation. Also, instructors must maintain a record of activity of service to the department, college, university and community as well as robust maintenance of professional development in the discipline and educational pedagogy. The ideal candidate must have teaching experience coupled with industry experience in order to engage students studying a variety of business disciplines through: + applicable knowledge of business operations + professional work history + assignment design + hands-on application of business practice All are necessary to develop the analytical, critical thinking, and communication skills of students.
