We are looking for an exceptional Registered Nurse to join our practice.
Physicians East, PA is a multi-specialty, multi-campus group based out of Greenville, NC offering a wide range of specialties. About us Physicians East, P.A.is a team of skilled healthcare professionals united to meet the challenge of delivering quality, cost-efficient, comprehensive healthcare to the people of Eastern North Carolina.
Location & commitments FT/PT/Temp/PRN role based at our Greenville (other) location, Monday-Friday, 8a.m. - 5 p.m.
Overtime may be required to ensure patients are taken care, tasks are completed, and calls are returned in a timely manner. Weekend work is rare but can occasionally be necessary.
Supervision Received: Reports to Clinical Supervisor; Manager; Director of Clinical Services
Supervision Exercised: None.
Typical Physical Demands: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Involves standing and walking. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposure to bodily fluids. Able to wear PPE for an extended amount of time.
Typical Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
About the role Responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnoses, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Responsible for directing and coordinating all nursing care based on established clinical practices. Performs under the direction of a physician or the RN and within the framework of the office policies and procedures for the Clinical Department.
Responsibilities : (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)
- Performs general nursing care to patients.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
- Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
- Observes, records, and reports patient's condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Dispenses medication as directed. Oversees appointment bookings and ensures preferences are given to patients in emergency situations.
- Maintains timely workflow of patients.
- Greets patients and prepares them for physician examination.
- Screen's patients and documents appropriate information.
- Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
- Arranges for patient testing and admissions, if applicable in their department.
- Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls.
- Instructs patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions.
- Maintains and reviews patient's records, charts, and other pertinent information.
- Ensures cleanliness of overall work area, nurses' station, and exam rooms.
- Screens and refers pharmaceutical representatives.
- Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Assists the patient to complete health history form.
- Obtains and records allergies, medications, and vital signs.
- Identifies patient learning needs and assists in patient teaching.
- Recognizes obvious signs and symptoms that indicate high-risk situations for the patient.
- Utilizes office resources & outside resources to assist in the care of patients with special conditions/needs.
- Establishes therapeutic environment for patient care.
- Documents telephone conversations with a patient or family member in chart and makes physician aware of the conversation and completes per physician order.
- Calls in prescriptions to pharmacy per verbal or written order of physician and documents in chart as per office policy.
- Reports to supervisor or licensed staff on patients before leaving the nursing station.
- Safely performs nursing procedures consistent with physician's orders and in accordance with Physicians East, P.A. policy and North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Assists the physician or mid-level provider with working within the framework and guidelines set forth by the North Carolina Board of Nursing:
- EKG
- Treadmill
- Flexible sigmoidoscopy
- Administers medicines via p.o., intramuscular, intradermal, intravenous, or subcutaneous route as per physician or mid-level provider order.
- Starts and maintains IV as per physician or mid-level provider order.
- Dressing changes
- Ear lavage
- Assists with pap smears and related lab work
- Schedules various procedures with other departments and clinics and coordinates related appointments, if applicable to their department.
- Set up sterile trays.
- Assists with bone marrow biopsy, thoracentesis, paracentesis, or lumbar puncture, if applicable to their department.
- Obtains pathology reports, scan or MRI results, lab values, etc. via telephone/fax/computer. Schedules CT, MRI, mammography, blood transfusions or other out-patient procedures, if applicable to their department
- Obtains skills check off validation as per policy of Physicians East, PA.
- Use proper body mechanics to assist patients with turning/lifting or to and from vehicle via wheelchair/stretcher.
- Adheres to infection control practices utilizing universal precautions and following OSHA guidelines as set forth by Physicians East, PA policy. (Ex: wearing PPE, hand hygiene, etc. )
- Keeps clinical supervisor/clinical manager informed of incidents or high-risk situations.
- Promotes cost containment measures.
- Assist in ordering supplies, if applicable to their department.
- Demonstrates appropriate use of equipment and assumes responsibility to ensure cleaning and repairing as necessary.
- Presents a professional image and follows dress codes as per office policy.
- Maintains CPR certification.
- Attend's fire safety classes, OSHA classes, clinical meetings and other continuing education classes as offered by Physicians East, PA.
- Adheres to department and office policies.
- Maintains licensure in accordance with North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Maintains a "team approach" with staff and patients
- Performs related work as required
- If necessary, will be expected to work at any Physicians East location to help meet the company's business needs.
Candidate requirements Graduate of an accredited program. Licensure: Must be registered with NCBON and in good standing. One year of professional nursing experience in a clinic setting preferred.
