Job Summary:Maintain, with minimal downtime, a Windows and Linux server infrastructure to include SAN storage in a physical, virtual, and cloud environment.
Required Qualifications:Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain IT systems by assessing needs and troubleshooting issues. Ensure optimal performance and security.
- Conduct root cause analysis and remediation in response to system failures, errors, and performance issues.
- Manage operating systems patching, updates, installation, and configuration.
- Create and maintain scripts to assist with automation.
- Configure and maintain the district's single sign-on environment.
- Create and maintain network user accounts and file access rights on the system.
- Collaborate with other departments and vendors to achieve shared district goals.
- Be on-call and cover outages that may occur during off-hours, weekends, and holidays.
- Perform backups and archival of files stored on the network to assist in recovery efforts. Back up network volumes daily and restore files on request.
- Implement disaster plan and system recovery strategies or establish operating practices.
- Harden IT servers and systems so they are secure. Mitigate security vulnerabilities when discovered.
- Update documentation to record new equipment installed, new sites, and changes to server configuration.

- Must be flexible to work varied work schedules. Required to work during peak periods/registration, including evenings and weekends.

Physical Demands, Working Conditions and Physical Effort
Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Positions in this class typically include talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, plus climbing and balancing. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting and intense noises. Occasional exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. Occasional outside work.
Occasional physical effort required.
Requirements
Associate degree in a computer science-related field from an accredited institution and four (4) years of related experience OR two (2) years of employment in computer server support, experience in installation and configuration of Linux and/or Windows hardware and software. Linux and/or Windows troubleshooting and server security. Proficiency in computer scripting required.
The ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.
Licenses and Certifications
One of the below-listed certifications or higher is required:
CompTIA Network + or equivalent in Networking
CompTIA Server + or equivalent in Server Management
CompTIA Security + or equivalent in Security
Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
