Northrop Grumman Space Systems is looking for an Infrared Hardbody Missile Modeling Engineer 2/3 to support the Threat Modeling Center for the Missile Defense System group, located at the Schriever SFB, Colorado. The Threat Modeling Center (TMC) is responsible for the development and delivery of high-fidelity threat modeling products in support of MDA and MDA's Ballistic Missile Defense System. The Missile Modeling Engineer role serves as a developer and verifier of kinematic threat models developed to support MDA's various use cases. Basic Qualifications: For 2: Bachelor's degree in engineering, aeronautics, physics, math or related discipline with 2+ years of relevant professional experience. Or master's degree in aforementioned field with 0+ years of relevant professional experience. For 3: Bachelor's degree in engineering, aeronautics, physics, math or related discipline with 5+ years of relevant professional experience. Or master's degree in aforementioned field with 3+ years of relevant professional experience. Possess and active DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret Clearance Strong knowledge of heat transfer and thermodynamics phenomena with experience using thermal analysis and/or IR signature prediction tools (ANSYS suite, TAITherm, Simcenter, OSC, Optisig, etc.)
Ability to interpret, modify and create CAD packages based on provided intelligence data.
Must be able to research, interpret, and verify parameters required to build and replicate signature models for all applicable objects within missile or space launch vehicle trajectories.
This position requires a detail-oriented engineer responsible for developing ballistic and advanced/hypersonic infrared hardbody threat models with little to no supervision for use in a variety of modeling and simulation tools/frameworks/media.
Must be able to author highly technical Verification and Validation (V&V) documents. Experience utilizing Matlab and/or LaTex is preferred.
Must be self-motivated, able to work in a dynamic team environment Preferred Qualifications: Experience with IR sensors and processing related data files

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
