Cal OES is recruiting for Limited Term positions and Emergency Hire Appointments in support of the Disaster Response and Recovery efforts in Southern California.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the IT Manager II, the IT Specialist I (ITS I) provides expert-level support for multiple sites, including Mather Campus and CalOES Recovery Operations.

The ITS I is responsible for performing as tier I/II computer and network support in a statewide information technology enterprise environment. Responsibilities will include participation in the analysis of user needs, systems analysis, innovation/function/design, documentation, testing, installation activities, evaluation, user support, maintaining an operational readiness posture and training. The ITS I will prepare operating instructions and on-the-job training when needed, and follow enterprise IT standards for problem documentation and resolution through the use of a ticketing system application. The incumbent is responsible for imaging systems, maintaining network equipment, and go kits. The incumbent will perform regular team exercises with disaster response network solutions. The incumbent will have extensive troubleshooting skills of Windows clients operating in an Active Directory environment, cloud environments and be comfortable supporting a range of hardware and software products which include Microsoft products, Lotus Notes, TeamViewer, Apple, Cradlepoint and Satellite technologies. This position will require travel throughout California to provide onsite visits.

Limited Term positions may be appointed up to 12 months or extended to 24 months with the possibility of becoming permanent.

•  An emergency hire appointment can work up to 189 days in 12 consecutive months, based on the needs of the disaster.
•  Positions are paid on an hourly basis, once a month, during the first week of the month following the closure of the pay period. An emergency hire appointment is not eligible for medical benefits or a retirement program.
•  Emergency hire appointments earn state service and sick leave and vacation based upon actual time worked.
•  Civil Service Examinations are not required for appointment. You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement .

Working Conditions
Telework - This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Main Office located in Mather, CA.

Conflict of Interest - This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code and is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.
