Purpose and role of job:
The purpose of the IT Intern position is to assist the IT department in maintaining and improving the organization's technology infrastructure, user support services, and data management systems. By contributing to network documentation, organizing IT assets, and supporting device management through mobile device onboarding and operating system upgrades, the intern helps ensure efficient IT operations. The role also includes providing hardware and user support, documenting software processes, and maintaining label software records to optimize system functionality. Additionally, the intern supports data integrity through data entry and creating forms in collaborative platforms, thereby enhancing business processes and IT service delivery across the organization.
Principal Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:
Network and Infrastructure
Network Documentation:
• Create and update physical and logical network diagrams for Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDFs) and overall network topology.
• Server Room Organization: Inventory server room equipment, identify items for recycling or donation.
Endpoint Management
• Intune Onboarding: Visit users with company phones to install the Mobile Device Management (MDM) profile, explain restrictions, and ensure compliance.
• Windows 11 Upgrade: Schedule and perform laptop upgrades to Windows 11, coordinating with users and explaining changes and new features.
• Endpoint Naming Audit: Verify that endpoint (PCs and laptops) names align with the company's naming convention, correcting mismatches based on user and location.
Hardware and User Support
• Hardware Support: Distribute peripherals and assist with setting up new user workstations, ensuring proper configuration and functionality.
• End-User Support: Assist end-user technicians with Windows 11 deployment, providing hands-on support during upgrades.
Software and Documentation
• Software Documentation: Create and revise setup and configuration documentation for software applications.
• Label Software Documentation: Document active Loftware labels to support consolidation and conversion to the new version.
Data and Reporting
• Data Entry: Perform manual data entry for various projects as assigned.
• Power BI Report Setup: Assist in creating visual templates and basic forms for Power BI reports, using pre-built data pipelines and standard measures.
• SharePoint Form Creation: Develop basic forms in the new SharePoint environment to support business processes.
Education and experience requirements:
• Current enrollment in an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.
• No prior professional IT experience required; enthusiasm for learning IT systems and processes is key.
• Exposure to IT tasks through coursework, personal projects, or volunteer work
Work Environment: Manufacturing and Office environment
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to walk the facility for the duration of the shift
• May need to grasp, hold, carry, lift, crawl, kneel, squat occasionally during Shift
• May need to climb without issue with heights up to three (3) levels
• Withstand temperature changes between high temperatures and moderate to low temperatures
• Hearing protection, safety glasses, safety shoes and hard hat required in designated areas
