Job Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Information Technology Consultant, competency level 2 position for the Division of Finance & Administration Information Technology ( DFA IT) unit at Oregon State University ( OSU ).
This is a limited duration appointment expected to last approximately 14 months from the appointment begin date.
This position reports to the head of Technical Solutions and Architecture in DFA IT. This position advises, consults, and implements procedures and system configurations, reviews and monitors business processes, recommends, and implements improvements. Provides "how to" resources or other documentation to meet business needs and ensure processing consistency and accuracy. Develops knowledgebase articles for technical processes. Creates auditing and assessment tools for monitory performance.

DFA IT leaders and staff will lead by example and use data to inform decision making at all levels in the organization. Persons in technology roles are also expected to design systems with data portability in mind and work within enterprise architecture and privacy guidelines.
This position is an essential part of DFA IT, a team dedicated to supporting OSU and DFA functions, programs, and processes. DFA IT provides planning, IT solutions and critical information to meet the constantly evolving needs of a growing technology and communication ecosystem. What We Require
This classification requires a basic foundation of knowledge and skills of technology and information systems generally obtained through an AA degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications, or related fields, or similar certified course work in applicable fields of study and at least one year of related work experience.

Demonstrated ability to contribute to an inclusive and welcoming workplace environment.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to apply consultative and problem-solving skills in a high-pressure setting to assess user needs and provide appropriate support and solutions. This includes developing and delivering technical training and user documentation.
- Data assessment and report development skills, with demonstrated experience creating highly accurate, complete and professional correspondence and written technical documents and specifications. Must have ability to articulate and explain University policies and effectively build relationships with key stakeholders.
- Basic knowledge of online systems, data and file structures, database systems and the ability to learn the systems to perform system, database and network maintenance tasks.
- Strong problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues and situations, identify alternative solutions, forecast consequences of proposed actions, and implement effective course of action.
- Evidence of strong time management skills. Ability to work on assignments independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and general knowledge of operating systems and hardware for problem identification and analysis.
- Experience in Business Process Analysis and/or project management is desirable.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning ( ERP ) systems in a higher education institution.
- Experience in the application of Federal and State laws, policies and regulations as references, guidelines and rules of operation.
