PRINCIPAL IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST - INFORMATION SYSTEMS SPECIALIST 4 (ISS4)

Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is currently seeking an Information Systems Specialist 4 - Principal IT Support Specialist to join a great team of professionals at our Central Office located at the Equitable Building in Salem, Oregon. As the new Principal IT Support Specialist you will be accountable for ensuring continuity of computer system services for computer users by providing the technical expertise, assistance, and coordination necessary to install computer software products, video conference unit systems, modify/repair hardware and resolve technical problems for the 1,000+ users located throughout the state of Oregon. The responsibilities of this position will vary depending on the daily workload and current projects.

Your Role:
•  Provide onsite and remote technical support for over 1,000 OYA users, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues with software, hardware, and network systems.
•  Act as the primary liaison between Service Desk and Tier 2 technicians, ensuring efficient escalation and resolution of complex issues.
•  Image and reimage computers for new and existing staff, ensuring systems are configured to OYA standards.
•  Analyze system performance and resolve technical issues related to operating systems, applications, and hardware, ensuring minimal downtime for users.
•  Provide training and user education on best system practices, software applications, and operating system functions.
•  Support system upgrades and new installations, working closely with business units to ensure seamless integration of new technologies with OYA's IT infrastructure.
•  Collaborate with hardware/software vendors to optimize current systems and ensure cost-effective solutions for ongoing system support.
•  Support complex troubleshooting efforts by collaborating with Tier 2 technicians on high-priority issues, ensuring system security and efficiency are maintained. Working Conditions
•  Office environment, with frequent use of a computer monitor, other office equipment, and telephone.
•  Occasional travel to field offices by car, with overnight accommodation required based on location and nature of duties.
•  Occasional evening/weekend work may be required to accommodate IT needs and project deadlines. Additional Information:
•   Location: This position is located at the Central Office in Salem but will occasionally assist and provide backup support to other remote sites within Oregon. This position is not a telework/remote position.

What We Are Looking For:

(a) Three (3) years of information systems experience in information systems support;

OR

(b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field;
AND
one (1) year of information systems experience in information systems support;

Special Qualifications:
•  Driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).
•  Current certification in CompTIA A+ or pass certification exam within 6 months of hire date (OYA will pay for training and certification exam).
•  Current certification in CompTIA Network+ or pass certification exam within 6 months of hire date (OYA will pay for training and certification exam);
•  Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations or pass certification exam within 12 months of hire date (OYA will pay for training and certification exam). REQUIRED SKILLS:
•  Excellent customer service skills.
•  Effective team participation skills.
•  Effective training in new technology to end-users.

•   Experience with IT Security Management: Experience managing IT security protocols and mitigating risks in networked environments, with knowledge of security tools and compliance standards (e.g., firewalls, antivirus, data encryption)
•   Technical Troubleshooting and Problem Resolution: Advanced skills in diagnosing and resolving complex IT issues across diverse platforms and applications, with a focus on minimizing downtime and maximizing system uptime.
•   Advanced Experience with Windows 11 / Microsoft 365: In-depth experience with managing, troubleshooting, and supporting Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 environments, including system administration, user management, and software deployment.
•   System Installation, Configuration, and Maintenance: Strong understanding of system installations, configurations, and ongoing maintenance, including cloud environments and hardware setup across diverse platforms
