Objectives Summary

The objective summary of this job classification is to develop and apply technical expertise in a broad range of server and system management environments and platforms, from single processor to enterprise servers. Jobs in this family are responsible for monitoring, developing, testing, maintaining, installing, optimizing and/or deploying servers and systems management technologies.
Nature of Work
Decisions involve developing configuration templates and setting standards for many server models and systems. Research, scale and propose server solutions. Configure, test, install and maintain servers. Design disaster mitigation and recovery plans for servers supported.

Essential Functions

The IT Systems Manager makes significant, autonomous decisions that impact a wide range of multi-platform integrated systems under broad supervisory guidelines. Operates within broad strategic guidelines. Decisions have a significant enterprise-wide operational impact that can span multiple agencies and may be difficult or impossible to reverse (i.e. mistakes would create extensive damage and require significant rebuilding and restoration.) Many decisions rendered in unique, unplanned, and unpredictable circumstances with a significant, complex engineering, planning and integration at the cutting edge of new technology. Involves comprehensive, highly specialized technical research, policy interpretation, and discerning the intent of high-level regulatory guidance.
•  Research, scale and propose server solutions enterprise.
•  Configure, test, install and maintain servers enterprise.
•  Performance tune servers enterprise.
•  Manage HW or SW resources (ie buffer pools, memory, 3rd party tools) to meet utilization requirements.
•  Produce and maintain documentation.
•  Configure, test, install and maintain storage solutions.
•  Plan for server capacity needs.
•  Conduct capacity planning assessments and make recommendations for ight-sizing equipment.
•  Plan and execute enterprise level disaster recovery.
•  Document service levels. Preference for the following technical skills and experience:

Experience with Group Policy
Experience with Security Systems: Proofpoint, ESET, Sentinel One

Experience with administration or basic support of legal research systems Westlaw or Lexis Nexis

Experience with AI systems (Copilot, Zoom AI, ChatGPT, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and/or MIS and four (4) years of experience in large enterprise network/system management functions, including
two (2) years of experience in managing IT staff. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
