Information System Security Officer (ISSO) with Security Clearance

Linchpin Software, a mission-driven small business, is seeking an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support one of our key government programs in Huntsville, AL. As the ISSO, you'll be at the center of system security efforts-working directly with Information System Owners and the security leadership team to ensure sensitive environments are protected, compliant, and resilient. You'll manage security controls, guide system hardening, and own key documentation for accreditation and ongoing compliance. Role Focus: 1. Serve as a trusted security advisor to system owners, process owners, and the CISO/ISSM.
2. Implement and manage security controls to protect government systems and data.
3. Lead efforts to secure physical and digital assets across the system lifecycle.
4. Develop, update, and maintain key security documentation including System Security Plans (SSPs), POAMs, and contingency plans.
5. Support ATO (Authority to Operate) accreditation efforts, including vulnerability tracking, remediation, and audit support.
6. Perform regular system inspections, coordinate with technical teams, and ensure compliance with applicable standards and frameworks. Ideal Experience: 1. Prior experience as an ISSO or in a similar cybersecurity compliance role.
2. Strong understanding of information assurance principles, NIST standards, and risk management frameworks.
3. Familiarity with the ATO process, including documentation and stakeholder coordination.
4. Ability to analyze vulnerability data and develop actionable POAMs.
5. Excellent communication skills for interfacing with both technical staff and leadership.
6. Strong attention to detail and ownership of system security posture. Preferred Certifications:
• CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional)

• Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate

• VMware Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV)
