Covered California is seeking an Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) to work within our Information Technology Division as our Information Security Engineer I. We are seeking a candidate with experience in security aspects of information technology. In this role, the incumbent will assist in selecting, deploying, and maintaining security products that safeguard the Covered California IT infrastructure and the confidential healthcare industry information for millions of Californians. We are seeking a candidate with knowledge and interest in managing security within a hybrid workforce, encompassing both on-premises and cloud platforms.

This position is headquartered in 1601 Exposition Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95815. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquarters office subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. Travel expenses associated with commuting to the employee's office headquarters location are not reimbursable, other than authorized transit subsidies.

Working Conditions

This position may be eligible for telework. In accordance with Government Code section 14200, only employees who reside in California are eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Covered California's current telework policy. While Covered California supports telework, in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksite with minimal notification if an urgent need arises, as determined by the Department.

•  4 years professional general information technology experience performing technical and/or analytical tasks for computer systems or services.
•  1-2 years experience or education in security engineering evaluation, test, implementation, and maintenance of security solutions for domains such as Cloud Security Management, Data Protection, Vulnerability Management.
•  1-2 years experience or education in security incident monitoring and response tools and techniques.
•  1-2 years experience or education in technical security risk management and assessments.
