Position Overview:
  • Cybersecurity Expertise: Seeking a seasoned cybersecurity professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience or equivalent expertise supporting DOD environments. Prior experience as an Information Assurance Analyst or Tier II Systems Administrator with a strong background in securing diverse client, server, and network environments (Cisco, Windows, Linux) would also make strong candidates for this position.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Requires a robust understanding of and experience applying cybersecurity principles, best practices, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NIST 800-53) to ensure system and data integrity.
  • Vulnerability Management: Proficiency in utilizing industry-standard and DOD-standard vulnerability scanning and assessment tools (e.g. Tenable Product Suite) to identify, analyze, and remediate security weaknesses.
  • Risk Management Framework (RMF) Proficiency: Demonstrated knowledge and experience implementing and maintaining systems in accordance with the DoD RMF, including FISMA compliance and continuous monitoring.
  • Team Collaboration & Communication: Must possess exceptional teamwork and communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical teams and communicate security posture to stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
  • Security Architecture & Design: Proactively integrate cybersecurity best practices and secure-by-design principles into the development lifecycle to create resilient products and systems prepared for rigorous security audits and continuous analysis.
  • Security Assessment & Remediation: Conduct comprehensive security assessments using tools like ACAS, SCC SCAP, and Evaluate-STIG to analyze findings, and implement remediation strategies based on scan results, mission priorities, and established risk management process.
  • RMF Compliance: Maintain system authorization to operate (ATO) within eMASS, ensuring all required documentation and artifacts are current and accurately reflect the system's security posture.
  • Vulnerability Management: Proactively identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities, develop and execute POA&Ms to address risks, and track remediation progress.
  • Threat Analysis: Stay abreast of emerging cybersecurity threats, analyze attack vectors and exploits, and recommend appropriate mitigation techniques.
  • Incident Response: Assist with incident response efforts, following established policies and procedures to contain and remediate security incidents.
  • Continuous Improvement: Continuously enhance cybersecurity knowledge and skills, staying current with evolving technologies and best practices.
Required Qualifications:
  • Clearable US Citizen that is able to pass a background investigation in order to obtain a federal security clearance.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of demonstrable experience in cybersecurity OR experience as a Tier II Systems Administrator with extensive involvement in securing client, server, and network devices (Cisco, Windows, Linux).
  • Certification: IAT Level II certification such as CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent) is mandatory.
  • Continuing Education: Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain relevant computing environment certifications or training as required for the position.
  • Vulnerability Management Tools: Proven proficiency with Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and aligned Tenable product suite.
  • Security Standards & Frameworks:
  • In-depth knowledge of DISA STIGs, SRGs, and SCAP.
  • Working knowledge of DoD's Risk Management Framework (RMF), FISMA compliance, and continuous monitoring processes.
  • Strong familiarity with NIST Special Publication 800-53 security controls and guidelines.
  • eMASS Experience: Experience using eMASS to maintain system ATOs and associated documentation.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation, reporting, and stakeholder interaction.
