Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. Ensures that user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security. May require familiarity with domain structures, user authentication, and digital signatures. Conducts accurate evaluation of the level of security required. Requires an understanding of firewall theory and configuration. Must be able to weigh business needs against security concerns and articulate issues to management. May coach or provide guidance to lower-level security professionals. Applies established standards; knowledge based acquired from several years of experience in particular area. Works independently; may instruct or coach other professionals. Designs and implements security systems and procedures which ensure that user accounts are provisioned in a manner that provides personnel with appropriate access to network and application resources. Manages network-level permissions to ensure appropriate access levels are maintained. Leads monitoring activities to ensure that user accounts and user actions adhere to security policies. Develops and maintains procedures for administering user accounts. Implements and administers information security software applications and devises strategies for leveraging these applications to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of security operations and the overall security environment. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related field preferred. Seven years of advanced technical security experience, demonstrating a pattern of achievement and increasing responsibilities. Working knowledge of security administration providing direction, guidance and integration of products and services. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including: technical writing, diagramming, effective email skills, and the demonstrated ability to interact professionally and effectively with diverse groups at all levels of the organization and its vendors and affiliates. Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage work load while assigned to multiple simultaneous projects with minimal supervision. Thorough understanding of user account administration in a network environment. Thorough understanding of security auditing principles. Familiarity with current common paradigms for violating system integrity. Top-tier security performance tuning skills and trouble-shooting required.
