Resident Services Director (RSD) Infection Prevention Nurse - Barron Center Health and Human Services Department - Full-Time (37.5 hours) The Barron Center, where kindness matters, has an opportunity for an experienced registered nurse to join a truly excellent, dedicated professional nursing management team. This RSD works in collaboration with the Director of Nursing to assume Infection Control regulatory compliance with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) and DHHS (Department of Health & Human Services) for the State of Maine. The Barron Center is owned and operated by the City of Portland and is Maine's largest skilled nursing facility. The pay is competitive, the benefits outstanding. The successful candidate will be responsible for the surveillance of healthcare acquired and community acquired infections. This position will educate and orient staff on infection prevention practices, and will participate in Quality Assurance Performance Improvement and objectives. Duties & Responsibilities: Identifies issues, strategizes and implements policy as it relates to the safe, sanitary and comfortable environment for employees and residents of the facility. Develops and implements plans using epidemiologic principles to prevent the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections. Completes all related required reporting data in a timely and organized fashion. Required Skills & Experience: Graduation from an approved school of nursing and licensure as an RN in Maine, additional education in gerontology preferred. Specialized training in infection prevention and control. Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors and the general public. Ability to supervise, educate, orient and mentor staff. Excellent oral, written and computer skills. Willingness and ability to provide direct services to residents.
