Industrial Engineer - Columbus, OH

The Industrial Engineer serves as a "catalyst for change" and drives and enables operational excellence across key business measures and performance indicators via robust organizational loss analysis and problem-solving capabilities.

This role uses strategic insights and loss analyses to identify and prioritize local supply strategies building out value leadership pipeline activities to deliver efficiency, annual cost savings, and waste reduction supported by the standards and proven practices within the Mars Supply Excellence/TPM method.

Additionally, in collaboration with diverse and key network stakeholders, this role scopes informs, and negotiates site masterplan activities inclusive of multiyear capital investment strategies with E2E and network perspective.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Economics
  • 3+ years of experience in Production or Supply Chain roles
  • Knowledge of internal manufacturing and major business processes, FMCG would be a benefit
  • Significant change management experience
  • Understanding of improvement tools such as SIXSIGMA, Kaizen, 5S
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Senior Leaders and stakeholders
  • Track record in leading step-change initiatives/Best practice rollout
  • Eager to analyze and inspired by maximizing value
  • Fluent in English

What will be your key responsibilities?

  1. Promote and Instill a Data-Driven, Continuous Improvement Culture:

  2. Lead Loss Analysis activities to visualize performance gaps and Continuous Improvement opportunities.

  3. Translate analysis into prioritized specific actionable measures visualized within the Single Site Improvement Plan
  4. (SSIP) that support the "Critical Few" Compelling Business Need (CBN) Goals
  5. Track and understand the impact on business priorities, such as OPEX (Operational Excellence) savings triggered by
  6. problem-solving activities.
  7. Advocate and nurture a consistent, data-driven, continuous improvement mindset across all plant departments and
  8. associates.

  9. Leadership of Focused Improvement (FI) Pillar:

  10. Select and develop Essential Element Owners

  11. Implement and advance Loss Analysis capabilities and leverage FI Process to identify and close gaps.
  12. Evaluate and build associate Problem-Solving capabilities aligned with Mars Supply Excellence (MSE) and regional guidance to return and maintain assets as "base condition".
  13. Conduct periodic internal audits and health checks to analyze the effectiveness of Focused Improvement activities.

  14. Leadership of Value Leadership Process:

  15. Develop and action improvement workstreams to enable a "Best in Class" cost structure.

  16. Lead Quarterly sessions to fuel the pipeline based on ongoing loss analysis capabilities and insights.

  17. Leadership and enablement Data-Driven, Analytical Problem Solving:

  18. Enabled by the Infinite Loop/FI Process, collaborate with Manufacturing Technology to co-create data collection and retrieval tools.

  19. Promote data-driven, analytical problem-solving through the application of sound statistical methods.
  20. Provide guidance as a subject matter expert on methodologies such as OGSM, Operational Standards DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control), Root Cause Analysis, 5S, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and waste minimization activities.

  21. Benchmark and Drive Results and move towards Industry Best Practices:

  22. Collaboration within regional and global manufacturing networks to achieve year-over-year financial and KPI (Key Performance Indicator) targets.

  23. Internally and externally benchmark performance and drive the organization toward standards exceeding recognized industry best practices.

  24. Ownership and Network Collaboration within critical Business Processes & Practices.

  25. Owns local standards and inputs into the Master Capacity Planning Process. Owns local CAB (Capital Appropriation Budget) Management and Capital project scoping in partnership with Engineering.

  26. Owns activity management and evaluation to coordinate input into the S&OP (Supply & Operations Planning) process.
  27. Owns local inputs into the Global Supply Benchmarking/Plant Performance Toolkit and performs analysis against Mars BiC (Best in Class) performance to facilitate local roadmap/strategy development for gap closure activity Collaborates with Segment Industrial Engineers to develop Site Masterplan to advance regional strategy.
  28. Collaborates in the Operating Plan process including local Target Setting and local Operational Standards.
  29. Collaborates across functions to execute Stakeholder management reviews (Performance vs. Target/Standard & Financial)
