Our San Francisco office is currently seeking a talented in-person Industrial Designer who possesses outstanding skills in sketching, form/detail development, and CAD modeling/rendering. Candidates should have a strong desire to work on a wide range of products in a creative, multi-disciplinary collaborative studio. Industrial Designers at our firm gain a deep understanding of technology, materials, and manufacturing methods to enhance the design and usability of various items.
Duties / Responsibilities:- Conducting market research to understand user needs and preferences
- Developing design concepts and proposals for new products
- Creating detailed sketches, prototypes, and models to visualize design concepts
- Using CAD software to create detailed design specifications and renderings
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including engineers, marketers, and manufacturers, to bring designs to life
- Evaluating product usability and functionality through testing and iteration
- Ensuring designs meet technical and manufacturing requirements, including material selection and production processes
- Managing project timelines and ensuring deliverables are met on schedule
- Presenting design concepts and progress to clients and senior management
- Staying updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices
- Participating in client meetings and site visits as needed
- Providing mentorship and guidance to junior designers
- Contributing to the maintenance of a positive, creative, and collaborative studio environment
Required Skills / Experience:- Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Product Design or a related field
- 2-5 years of professional experience in a design agency or in-house design team
- Proficiency in hand sketching and the ability to create detailed mock-ups
- Advanced skills in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino) and rendering software (e.g., Keyshot)
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Experience with user experience design tools (e.g., Figma, After Effects)
- Deep understanding of materials, production processes, and manufacturing techniques, particularly with plastics and metals
- Knowledge of quality control and assurance practices in manufacturing
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong project management and organizational abilities
- Effective communication skills for presenting ideas and collaborating with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to take direction and adapt to feedback
- Passion for design and innovation, with a keen interest in consumer behavior
- Sensitivity to international markets and cultural differences
