Role and Responsibilities

The Industrial Automation Technician is responsible for building mechanical assemblies, wiring, plumbing electrical, and pneumatic panels for packaging equipment and conveyors. This role provides installation, maintenance, and repairs for equipment in the field travel up to 60% required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

Understanding of electrical schematics, machine drawings, assemblies, and related bills of materials, including tasks such as:

o Wire both power and control circuits of the equipment.

o Installing wire ways, brackets, and cable tray.

General wiring skills for performing the following tasks are necessary:

o Perform control cabinet and control panel assembly.

o Pushbutton console assembly.

o Multi-phase circuit wiring.

o Conduit & wire way installation.

o Control circuit wiring.

o "I/O" checks.

Mechanical Assembly is a large part of the assigned role. Mechanical skills and proficient use of hand tools are necessary for performing the following tasks:

o Mechanical drive assembly.

o Fluid control assembly.

o Guard and cover assembly.

o General mechanical assembly.

Provide service and customer support during field visits.

o Manage on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and test tasks.

o Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.

o Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings.

o Build positive relationships with customers.

o Produce timely and detailed service reports, including machine or maintenance processes.

o Operate vehicle safely.

All other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Graduate of a 2-year industrial automation program.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Blueprint and schematic reading, Microsoft programs knowledge, and familiarity with Allen-Bradley electrical components required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 3+ years' relevant experience

Preferred Skills

  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules
  • High level of experience with machine building and mechanical assembly techniques
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair and service technical equipment with mobile tools/meters
  • Programmable logic controllers: 4 years (Preferred)
  • Allen-Bradley software: 4 years (Preferred)

Familiarity with electrical components:

  • Sensors
  • VFDs
  • Power Supplies
  • PLCs
  • HMIs

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL STRENGTH: Lift up to 25 - 30 pounds.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.



Compensation details: 30-38 Hourly Wage
