Job Overview
The In-Room Dining Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the In-Room Dining department to ensure exceptional guest experiences, high-quality food and beverage offerings and efficient departmental operations. This key role includes managing staff, maintaining operational standards and ensuring the department meets financial and service goals.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Department Leadership & Staff Management
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the In-Room Dining department, ensuring a high standard of service
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff, providing continuous coaching and development
- Schedule and manage staff shifts based on demand, ensuring optimal coverage during peak times
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and implement development plans to enhance staff skills and knowledge
Guest Experience Management
- Ensure that all in-room dining services are delivered in a timely, professional, and courteous manner to enhance the guest experience
- Handle guest inquiries and concerns, ensuring prompt resolution and follow-up to guarantee satisfaction=
- Monitor guest feedback to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery, including special guest requests and VIP services
Operational & Service Excellence
- Oversee the ordering, preparation, and delivery of in-room dining services, ensuring consistency in food quality, presentation, and service
- Ensure proper procedures are followed for food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards in compliance with health regulations
- Streamline and optimize operational workflows for maximum efficiency and minimal guest wait times
- Conduct routine inspections of in-room dining areas to ensure cleanliness, organization, and functionality of equipment
Financial & Budget Management
- Work with the Food & Beverage Director to create and manage the department's budget
- Monitor departmental expenses and adjust operations to stay within budgetary constraints while maintaining quality service
- Analyze sales trends, adjusting staffing levels, and menu offerings based on demand and financial goals
- Control inventory, track product usage, and order supplies as necessary to maintain proper stock levels
Menu Development & Coordination
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create and update the in-room dining menu, ensuring offerings are appealing and meet guest preferences
- Monitor food quality and presentation, working closely with chefs to ensure standards are consistently met
- Ensure the menu is updated based on guest feedback, seasonal changes, and operational requirements
- Work with the culinary team to introduce special promotions, themed offerings, or seasonal menu items to increase revenue
Health & Safety Compliance
- Enforce food safety practices and ensure adherence to health and safety regulations
- Maintain records related to sanitation, inventory and safety procedures
- Ensure staff are trained in and follow safety protocols to minimize risk and ensure guest well-being
Reporting & Analysis
- Generate regular reports on sales, service performance, guest satisfaction, and staff productivity
- Review key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas of opportunity and drive improvements
- Provide feedback and insights to senior management regarding operational performance and guest experience
Education and/or Experience
- A degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field is preferred
- At least 3-5 years of experience in a hotel or restaurant environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role within food and beverage or room service management
- ServSafe or similar food safety certification required
Skills/Specialized Knowledge
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- In-depth knowledge of food and beverage operations, especially in-room dining
- Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets and controlling costs
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 pounds
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed
