A healthcare company in Southern California is seeking an in-house litigation paralegal. This defense-side paralegal will play a crucial role in managing a wide range of legal matters alongside the GC (plus other members of the legal department). Cases range from medical malpractice, employment (discrimination, harassment, wage & hour), premises liability, slip & fall, and breach of contract.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive paralegal support for 40-60 in-house cases.
- Gather and organize client documents for evaluation and discovery responses.
- Manage all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, and depositions.
- Draft legal documents, including objections (to subpoenas), demurrers, motions to strike/compel arbitration/MSJs/MSAs (shell drafting).
- Prepare deposition notices and summaries.
- Manage subpoenas, including issuance and analysis.
- Review and process complaints, including reporting to insurance.
- Calendar litigation deadlines.
Pay is contingent upon fluency with the duties above, defense-side experience, and knowledge of said practice areas.
Work Plan:
- Initial 90-day probationary/training period requires daily in-office presence in Brea, CA.
- Potential for 1-2 days of remote work per week after the probationary period, subject to negotiation and experience level.
- Flexible work hours between 7:30 AM and 5:30 PM, with core business hours from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.

Requirements:
- ABA-certified paralegal, with 2+ years of litigation experience, ideally from the defense side.
- Strong understanding of discovery procedures and practices.
- Ability to commute to Brea daily.
