The Pittsburgh Penguins In-Arena Host will serve as the face and personality for all Pittsburgh Penguins home games and select events. The ideal candidate will have a charismatic personality and upbeat style that feels authentic to Pittsburgh. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a strong brand presence, both on camera and in a live arena environment, that connects and resonates with all fans throughout the event. This position will support the collective goals of game operations to create life-long memories for all fans who enter PPG Paints Arena and ensure that Penguins home games are the best party in Pittsburgh. This position is part-time with all home games being mandatory.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Work all Penguins home games and select events as a team personality and host.
  • Be the lead personality emceeing and hosting all game entertainment activities on and off the ice in accordance with the overall game script.
  • Attend and participate in all standard game ops pregame meetings related to game presentation on game days.
  • Take a pro-active, thoughtful approach in conceptualizing, preparing, and executing all aspects of this role's involvement in Penguins game presentation in a manner that optimizes the overall fan experience while remaining true to our brand.
  • Engage and interact with large crowds, creating high-energy and indelible moments for fans at every opportunity.
  • Assist game presentation staff as needed in overall execution of all live elements throughout the event, including general fan engagement, contestant selection, promotions & sponsorship activations, mascot interaction, scripted announcements, etc.
  • Conduct live and impromptu on-camera interviews with fans, activities participants, VIPs, etc., airing in the bowl.
  • Interface with front-office staff. Help to create and execute sponsor-driven in-game activities and communicate partner marketing initiatives.
  • Other duties may be assigned to assist with special events.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Previous hosting, emcee, broadcasting, or other relevant "Hype" experience. Candidates should submit a video reel along with their application at this link (During upload of video reel, please enter your name for "company".)
  • Fun, engaging personality. Comfortable and confident working in front of large, live crowds. Experience interacting with fans and people of all ages and demographics.
  • Ability to work under pressure, follow scripts and timelines, while also being able to improvise when necessary.
  • Great teammate who is a highly-motivated and leads by example. A professional representation of the Penguins at all times.
  • Extensive knowledge and passion for Pittsburgh, pop culture and trends, sports, hockey, the NHL, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Physically capable of standing for long hours, moving throughout the arena quickly, and lifting upwards of 25 lbs. Comfort with high-elevations is a plus.
  • Ability to take feedback and implement into performance.
  • A proven record of being a reliable and trustworthy team member.

Please note heavy workloads and long daily hours, including weekend, evening, and holiday hours as needed during the hockey season and other peak periods, are expected and are considered industry standard. Occasional travel required for outside appearances, industry events, meetings, conferences, "best practices" visits to other venues, team travel opportunities, etc.
