Position Summary

Our company seeks to hire an Immigration Staff Attorney in its Plantation office. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the attorney will assist in Naturalization, Green Card Renewals, Temporary Protected Status renewals, and Adjustment of Status applications. They will also handle some removal defense before the Immigration Court and the Department of Homeland Security and will be cross-trained in other areas of immigration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide individual immigration consultations
  • Represent clients before various agencies, including immigration court, ICE, USCIS, and state and federal courts, in applications and advocacy for relief from removal.
  • Draft and Complete Immigration Forms and Packets to be sent to USCIS and Immigration Court

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • No experience is necessary; we are willing to train.
  • Ability to work effectively with a large caseload and function professionally within a highly stressful environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently at times and also as an effective part of a team, including other attorneys, support staff, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • An ability to balance and manage a variety of responsibilities.
  • Strong commitment to social, economic, and racial justice.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
  • Ability to speak Spanish or another language in addition to English is a plus.

Education & Experience

  • Active membership in a State Bar (Does not have to be Florida)
  • The attorney will have a J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Experience serving low-income communities preferred but not required
