Our client, a respected immigration law firm, is seeking an experienced Immigration Paralegal to join their growing team. With anticipated shifts in federal immigration enforcement and policy, the firm expects a significant uptick in removal defense, asylum, and humanitarian-based cases. This role is ideal for a bilingual legal professional with a passion for advocacy and a solid foundation in complex immigration matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare filings for removal defense cases, including EOIR-42B, asylum applications, motions to reopen, and cancellation of removal
  • Support attorneys with detained and non-detained dockets before immigration courts and USCIS
  • Draft and file applications for humanitarian relief (asylum, DACA, TPS, U visa, VAWA, SIJS, parole-in-place)
  • Assist with bond requests, stay applications, and ICE check-in preparation
  • Prepare and track family-based petitions (I-130s, I-485s, I-765s, I-601s, etc.)
  • Maintain direct communication with clients, ensuring timely collection of documents and declarations
  • Prepare country conditions research and supporting documentation for filings
  • Maintain and organize physical and digital case files in compliance with firm and USCIS standards
  • Manage deadlines, biometrics, court appearances, and interview calendars
  • Translate documents and act as interpreter, as needed (Spanish preferred)

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in removal defense, asylum, or humanitarian immigration work
  • Fluency in Spanish required (other languages a plus)
  • Strong understanding of EOIR procedures, USCIS filing requirements, and immigration court systems
  • Excellent drafting, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work compassionately with vulnerable populations
  • Proficiency in immigration case management systems (eg, LawLogix, INSZoom, Docketwise)
  • Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal Certificate preferred
