TrustPoint.One has partnered with a top Michigan-Based Civil Litigation Firm in their search for an experienced Immigration Paralegal to support their team in preparing and filing various immigration applications and petitions.
The ideal Immigration Paralegal candidate will have experience working with U.S. immigration agencies, including DHS, USCIS, USCBP, USICE, USDOS, and USDOL, and a strong understanding of immigration processes under the Treaty U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (formerly NAFTA) and other applicable laws.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file immigration applications and petitions with USCIS, USCBP, USDOS, and USDOL.
- Maintain a filing system/database to track timely submission of applications, extensions, and petitions.
- Draft and coordinate immigration filings, including but not limited to:
- Temporary & Nonimmigrant Petitions: TN, H-1B, H-4, H-3, J-1, L-1A/L-1B, Blanket L
- Employment-Based Applications: PERM Labor Certifications, Immigrant Petitions, Adjustment of Status
- Investor & Business Visas: E Visa Applications, Entrepreneur Petitions
- Waivers & Appeals: Requests for Evidence (RFEs), Appeals on Denial of Petitions/Applications
- Family-Based Applications: Fiancé(e) Visas (K-1/K-3), Green Card Renewals, Naturalization Applications
- Consular Processing & Waivers for visa applications handled by USDOS
- Research and assist clients in obtaining foreign documents (e.g., birth, military, prison, and police records).
- Coordinate certification, translation, and evaluation of foreign documents and degrees.
- Draft supporting letters, affidavits, and legal memoranda.
- Stay updated on changes in immigration laws and policies affecting filings and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration laws, procedures, and agency requirements.
- Experience handling employment and family-based immigration cases.
- Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent research, writing, and organizational skills.
- Experience with case management software and immigration databases.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
