Job Title: Image Quality Engineer / Optical Engineer III

Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Image Quality Engineer to join our client's advanced display and camera systems team. In this role, you'll work alongside scientists and engineers to design and evaluate the end-to-end performance of next-generation visual systems. You'll use custom simulation tools and your strong background in signal processing to deliver cutting-edge imaging and display experiences.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and simulate full image pipeline architectures for camera and display systems.
  • Conduct system-level modeling to analyze image quality and optical performance.
  • Develop and apply image processing algorithms (e.g., tone mapping, gamut mapping, distortion correction).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready pipelines that meet perceptual quality metrics.
  • Present findings and simulation results to internal stakeholders and contribute to setting system specifications.
  • Support the transition of visual technologies from prototype to final product.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in image signal processing (ISP) and digital signal processing (DSP).
  • Hands-on experience with camera pipeline design and/or display pipeline design.
  • Deep understanding of tone mapping, color science, and color space conversions.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB (required) and/or Python for simulation and modeling.
  • Experience with Fourier transforms, convolution, and filter design.
  • Background in optical or geometric distortion correction.
  • BS in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • MS or PhD in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines.
    • 5+ years of experience in advanced display and/or camera system development.
    • Understanding of human visual perception and application to system design.
    • Familiarity with display types: µLED, OLED, LCD, LCOS, DMD, etc.
    • Experience in the simulation of end-to-end imaging systems.
