Job Summary

Assumes responsibility for the safe and effective operation, control, and maintenance of the Hyperbaric Chamber systems and all supporting components.

Essential Functions

  • Performs all aspects of hyperbaric operations in accordance with manufacturer recommendations, industry standards and safe practices. Aligns oxygen system, cleans and inspects chambers, pressurizes/depressurizes chambers, monitors patient and equipment status. Ensures all safety measures for patient in HBO chamber

  • Conducts inspections and support preventative maintenance programs of chambers to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment and associated physical support systems.

  • Assist with departmental compliance with all regulatory requirements. Suggest necessary HBO safety policies and incorporated new safety procedures as necessary. Keeps documentation current and accurate, including accurate documentation of consumption of products and charges.

  • Works with all other Hyperbaric officers to coordinate the care of any referral of patients to the CVI program. Coordinates process for continuity of care between inpatient and outpatient HBO services.

  • Responsible for documenting all HBO health records into the EMR for the wound care department. Also understands the coding and compliance guidelines for HBO treatment.

  • Works closely with infection control, Hazardous material, Hospital Safety Director and Coordinates with the wound care manager and clinical engineering department for all safety guidelines regarding the hyperbaric tanks and usage. Acts as on-site HBO Safety Coordinator.

  • Assists with the education of patients, families and staff on hyperbaric procedures.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.


Minimum Requirements

  • Education - Associate degree. Completion of an accredited respiratory care program

  • Experience - One (1) year of hyperbaric experience
