HyCO Hydrogen Plant Operator - Monitor and maintain operations by coordinating plant rates with customer requirements, performing start-up and shutdown activities as needed along with Preventative and Corrective Maintenance. Interface through electronic, pneumatic and/or mechanical systems to control a continuous steam methane reformer process to meet flow and purity requirements of our customers. Maximize efficiencies, minimize down time and ensure integrity of the hydrogen product. Accept responsibility to be proactive and innovative in solutions to ensure an efficient operation and safe work environment. Plant operators work a 12-hour rotating shift work schedule. Position Accountabilities 1. Manipulates hydrogen plant controls to meet product specifications and production requirements. 2. Adjust plant control variables, monitor and manage process equipment parameters to maintain plant(s) in efficient steady state operation. 3.Obtain knowledge base of the theory of steam methane reformers and related equipment associated with the process, understand the plant's water chemistry to assure proper operations and equipment functioning. 4. Develop skills to trouble shoot, evaluate process upsets and take corrective actions. 5. Develop ability to interpret Piping & Instrument Drawings to understand process operations, equipment and aid in trouble shooting system anomalies. 6. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, evaluate equipment performance, perform routine calibration and maintenance of analytical test equipment and maintain appropriate records. 7. Be safety conscious; i.e. meetings, work area cleanliness, eliminate hazards when noted, etc. 8. Follow company work policies to promote a safe work environment that encourages active participation and timely reporting of all incidents and unsafe conditions. 9. Participate in the maintenance and updating of plant equipment and work instructions. 10. Prepare and maintain production records, logs and inspection forms to meet internal and external requirements. 11. Apply the Work Permit process, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and energy isolation procedures as required for company and contractor personnel. 12. Good communication skills with all team members, vendors, safety and management teams, etc. 13. Troubleshooting the causes of plant operational issues and alarms, either directly or in conjunction with team members and/or Remote Operations Center (ROC) personnel. 14. Assist with starting / stopping the plants in a safe manner as dictated by operating conditions and business needs. 15. Optimizing plant performance by tracking performance data and implement the best operating plan for all plants. Qualifications: Experience in an industrial plant in the operations or maintenance departments is preferable Military service may substitute for industrial plant experience Math - basic algebra, fractions/percentages, unit conversion General personal computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, email) and other software utilized by the company Strong Interpersonal abilities to support team philosophy and strategy Understanding of electrical hazards and safety Physically able to perform all duties required which may involve among other things; bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders and lifting / carrying loads up to 50 lbs.
