HVAC/R Designer

The Cincinnati Air Conditioning Company is an HVAC contractor specializing in design-build projects for over 75 years. The company is seeking qualified candidates for a Full-Time Mechanical Designer position that would work with both The Cincinnati Air Conditioning Company's commercial HVAC business as well as the controlled environment division, Thermolinear (SINCE 2002).


Candidate must be detailed minded with an advanced knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD (3D) capable of producing bidding, coordination, permit and record drawings. Experience in being the point person running 3D coordination live online for a multidiscipline project is a plus.


The position requires collaboration with project managers, other designers and installation employees within The Cincinnati Air Conditioning company as well as customers, general contractors and Thermolinear staff. Candidates must be able to self-manage their time, cope with interruptions, and be able to work on multiple projects in various stages of completion simultaneously within a fast-paced open office environment.


The common Cincinnati Air job duties include:

Calculating building loads (we currently use HAP) to aid in equipment sizing and selection.

Creating HVAC drawings for bidding, permit, coordination and as-built purposes from start to finish

including necessary schedules, details, COMcheck and permit applications.

Occasionally visiting job sites to: aid project managers in bidding, participate in coordination meetings,

gather information for coordination and explain or answer questions for field personnel.

Maintain a working knowledge and commonly reference relevant codes that we must abide by (Ohio

Mechanical Code, International Mechanical Code; ASHRAE 62.1, 90.1, 55; International Fuel Gas Code,

International Energy Conservation Code, etc.).

Fulfill the project managers' needs for engineering.

Be the resident Revit expert and be willing to teach other designers to use Revit.

This is not an entry level position.


Thermolinear Job Summary:

The HVAC/R Engineer's duties include being involved in the design of mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration equipment from start to finish. The Engineer will work closely with co-workers and customers to meet project specifications and customer needs.


Essential Functions:

Assist in Environmental room design.

Produce Refrigeration, Electrical, and Mechanical Auto CAD drawings with great attention to

detail. Complete component schedules to meet requirements.

Develop accurate submittals and operation and maintenance manuals

Willing to learn theory of operation of Thermolinear equipment serve customers and educate field

personnel. Eg: Refrigeration systems, dehumidifiers, humidifiers, attend seminars and educational

opportunities, etc.

Actively assist in managing jobs by coordinating owner/architect's/ general contractor's schedule with our

manpower. Buy-out of equipment and materials to coincide with timely requirements on jobs.

Pursue best pricing from vendors; solicit vendors for best supplier and product for the job.

Provide support for the field managers. This will include locating and purchasing various components and

services to complete projects efficiently.

Implement systems to create higher quality, streamlined, finished products. Ex: Checklists, accurate BOM,

etc.

Become proficient at selecting and ordering electrical and refrigeration components for each project to

meet design needs as well as project specifications.

Develop meaningful, professional and personal relationships with others, including co-workers, customers,

project managers, and vendors.

Job Qualifications:

Must be able to work well in a team environment. Must possess excellent

communication skills, be self-motivated, organized and have a "sense of urgency."

Demonstrate interest and skill in hands on troubleshooting and problem solving.

Possess vision for improving the engineering, design, and construction process

Experience in or ability to quickly learn AutoCAD LT. Familiarity with 3-D modeling software, programming

knowledge, and other engineering related programs is a plus.

Be willing to obtain OSHA 30 hour safety certification.

Must be able to perform occasional lifting of product or merchandise (20 to 75 lbs).

Must possess a valid state driver's license and insurable as designated by company's insurance provider to

drive company vehicles.
