HVAC & Energy Systems Engineer Position Summary:
The HVAC & Energy Systems Engineer will manage and execute HVAC and mechanical energy conservation projects from concept to completion. This includes identifying opportunities for system optimization, leading retrofit and upgrade efforts, and tracking energy usage to ensure measurable results. This position requires a hands-on engineer with strong technical and project management skills specific to building HVAC systems.
HVAC & Energy Systems Engineer Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of HVAC and mechanical energy efficiency projects across a variety of facilities
- Perform building assessments to identify opportunities to improve system performance and reduce energy consumption
- Develop detailed scopes of work, cost estimates, and payback analyses for energy conservation measures (ECMs)
- Monitor energy performance post-project and validate energy savings using metering and data analytics tools
- Recommend upgrades or operational changes to building systems, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and control systems
- Collaborate with facilities staff and external consultants to evaluate and implement best practices in energy management
HVAC & Energy Systems Engineer Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience focused on HVAC systems, energy engineering, or building system commissioning
- Solid understanding of mechanical systems, central plants, air distribution, and energy modeling
- Proficiency with Building Automation Systems (BAS), energy metering technologies, and HVAC control strategies
- Strong project management skills with experience leading energy upgrade or retrofit projects
- Ability to work on-site in Rochester NY.
