ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Conducts classification audits with employees and supervisors, including: evaluating positions; selecting, interpreting, extrapolating, and applying Classification Standards and guides; prepares comprehensive reports of findings; and timely presents classification findings and decisions to program managers;

Conducts comprehensive classification surveys and studies; interprets, extrapolates, and applies Classification Standards and guides; and provides comprehensive reports of findings and recommendations;

Provides the full range of management advisory services in all areas of position classification; makes recommendations regarding position management, staffing patterns, functional statements, and organizational structures;

Develops position descriptions; and works with managers and supervisors to develop new and revise existing career ladder and other types of position descriptions;

Acts as a liaison among managers and supervisors in order to identify, advise, and resolve complex classification issues;

Carries out special HR projects as assigned;

Performs other related duties as assigned

Job Competencies

Working knowledge of a wide range of position classification concepts, principles, and practices sufficient to provide management with insight in establishing organizational structures that are efficient and cost effective, support desired grade levels, and facilitate career development

Knowledge of and skill in applying a wide range of classification principles, practices and regulations sufficient to perform detailed analyses and draw conclusions on complex issues, problems and situations

Knowledge of and skill in applying research methods, information gathering techniques, and analytical skill sufficient to locate, interpret, and analyze precedent and substantive decisions, and/or legal opinions relative to position classification

Highly skilled in written and oral communication; and the ability to meet and deal with all levels of individuals; and to present factual, convincing supporting information

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; and at least (4) four years related experience; or the equivalent combination of education and experience which meet the minimum qualifications requirement may be substituted

Technical Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have strong computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook). Must be able to learn other computer software programs as required by assigned tasks
