They are seeking a driven and experienced Human Resources Manager to lead core HR functions, provide strategic support, and help build a strong internal culture aligned with their mission and workforce needs.

Job Description:

The Human Resources Manager will oversee all HR activities for a field-based construction team. This individual will focus on full-cycle recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and workforce development. This is a full-time, 5 days onsite exempt role reporting into senior leadership and offers the opportunity to implement impactful HR programs and lead a small team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute people strategies tailored to a field-based, skilled labor workforce
  • Lead recruitment efforts for site-level and corporate positions across various functions
  • Handle employee relations issues, support conflict resolution, and foster a positive culture
  • Manage weekly and bi-weekly payroll operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Oversee workers' compensation claims, return-to-work coordination, and insurance communication
  • Coordinate benefits administration, employee reimbursements, and project-specific pay practices
  • Ensure compliance with state/federal employment regulations and internal safety standards
  • Promote inclusion, safety, and team engagement initiatives throughout the organization
  • Guide and mentor the internal HR team and serve as a partner to site leadership
  • Support executive leadership with reporting, analytics, and HR project execution

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience, ideally within construction or a similar labor-intensive industry
  • Strong knowledge of labor laws, HR compliance, and employment practices
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, coaching, and leadership development
  • Effective communicator with the ability to influence field-level and executive stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with HRIS a plus
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification is a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a strong asset
  • Prior experience managing or mentoring HR staff

Additional Details:

This role is based out of the Charlotte, NC area and supports both local and regional construction sites. Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment with some on-site presence as needed.
