As the Human Resources Manager with AF Steel Fabricators, you are a dedicated and organized professional with exceptional leadership skills, and you will be responsible for collaborating with all departments.

The Human Resources Manager will be overseeing the daily operations of the HR department, to include payroll processing (ADP WorkforceNow). This person will assist in Talent Acquisition efforts, Employee Relations concerns, Onboarding/Offboarding process, Employee Benefits, etc. The ideal candidate should have experience as an HR Generalist or HR Manager within the construction industry.


Role & Responsibilities


  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting and, retention.
  • Provides support and guidance to management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which includes recruitment, and hiring/onboarding of qualified job applicants.
  • Collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Processes time cards, and weekly/semimonthly payroll
  • Creates forms, and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Background & Qualifications


  • A bachelor's degree and 3+ years of HR generalist experience, or 7+ years of HR Generalist experience in construction or related industry.
  • Previous experience managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring process highly preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • HR certification a plus (SHRM-CP , SHRM-SCP , PHR or SPHR ).

  • ADP Workforce Now payroll/HR system and basic accounting
  • Smartsheet/DocuSign/ Adobe PDF Editor
  • Software & Technology: ADP time-keeping, Raken, MS Windows 10, MS Office 365; Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
