Human Resource Manager Alexandria VA

$90k-$100k, great benefits, growing company.

My client is a nonprofit association located in Alexandria, VA with a need for a Human Resource Manager. The role is 4 days a week in office. The HR Manager will report to the Executive Director and will be involved in strategic HR initiatives for the organization. The HR Manager will be responsible for the following duties:

Key Responsibilities:

Human Resources Strategy and Leadership:

  • Lead the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies, and practices aligned with our mission.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Executive Director and management team on HR matters, organizational design, and workforce planning.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and seamlessly drive and implement changes

Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning

  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract and retain diverse talent.
  • Manage the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring process for all staff positions, ensuring a diverse and inclusive applicant pool.
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation programs for new hires to foster a positive employee experience from the outset.

Employee Relations

  • Provide conflict resolution and support to employees and managers on performance, behavior, and interpersonal issues.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to staff, providing guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful work environment where employees are supported in their professional and personal growth.

Professional Development and Performance Management

  • Develop and implement training programs and performance management systems that encourage employee growth, accountability, and regular feedback for staff members
  • Promote leadership development and career advancement opportunities for employees.
  • Work with managers to identify skill gaps and create relevant training solutions, provide coaching, and identify professional development opportunities for employees.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Oversee compensation and benefits programs, ensuring they are competitive and meet the needs of employees.
  • Manage employee benefits enrollment and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to assess and recommend changes to compensation structures as necessary.

Compliance

  • Ensure the organization's HR policies and practices comply with all local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Maintain employee records in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Stay informed on HR trends, laws, and best practices and update policies as necessary.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources with a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a leadership role, preferably in a non-profit or youth development organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement HR programs that support the development and retention of employees.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Capacity to thrive under pressure while working on multiple tasks and projects.
