FLSA Status: Non-exemptJob SummaryThe HR Intern will support the Human Resources team in various functions including recruitment, employee engagement, training, and administrative tasks. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain practical HR experience in a hospitality environment, working closely with the Director of HR and other team members to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The intern will assist in maintaining compliance, supporting employee programs, and contributing to a positive workplace culture for GCC's staff.
Essential Duties include, but are not limited to: Trust & Teamwork
- Assist in the recruitment and onboarding process, including job postings, resume reviews, scheduling interviews, and conducting new hire orientations
- Collaborate with department managers to ensure proper communication of HR policies and procedures, fostering a cohesive work environment
- Work alongside the HR team to coordinate employee recognition programs, team-building activities, and other initiatives to promote a positive workplace culture
Effective Communication
- Support employee communications by drafting memos, emails, and announcements to ensure timely and clear updates on policies, events, and other HR-related matters
- Assist in responding to employee inquiries, providing accurate information about benefits, payroll, and other HR-related concerns
- Participate in HR meetings and contribute to discussions, ensuring all feedback and suggestions are communicated effectively to improve internal processes
Innovation
- Help identify opportunities for improving HR processes, such as streamlining onboarding, enhancing employee engagement, and implementing new software or tools for managing employee records
- Assist with the development of training materials and programs that address employee development, compliance, and skills enhancement
- Research and recommend best practices in HR operations, staying up-to-date with industry trends to support a more efficient and modern HR department
Balance & Appreciation
- Assist in organizing employee wellness programs, recognition events, and social activities, ensuring GCC's staff feel valued and appreciated
- Help track and update employee payroll records to maintain accurate HR data and compliance with company policies
- Support efforts to maintain a healthy work-life balance for staff by promoting wellness initiatives, encouraging feedback, and creating a supportive environment
Education and/or Experience- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Currently pursuing a degree in HR, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field, preferred
- Previous experience in HR or related administrative work in a country club setting, preferred
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations - Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks related to recruitment, employee engagement, and data management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization

- Ability to prioritize projects and attention to detail
- Possess strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Physical Requirements- General office environment with exposure to common office equipment
- Occasional need to lift 20lbs or less
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time while working
- Mobility to move throughout the club to assist with various HR tasks, communicate with employees, and support employee events
Candidate Qualifications- Strong interest in Human Resources, employee relations, and organizational development with a desire to gain practical experience in the field
- Team oriented attitude with a collaborative approach to problem solving and supporting colleagues
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and ability to learn HR software
- Discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information, ensuring compliance with privacy and security protocols
- Passion for working with people
Other BenefitsIn addition to field experience, interns will be provided with housing, paid an hourly rate and can expect to work 40+ hours each week. Pro shop discounts, uniforms and a meal allowance are also provided. Interns must have their own transportation. Selected interns will be given the opportunity to attend regularly scheduled CMAA meetings while employed.
