Overview
The Compensation & Benefits Associate will support the management and administration of employee benefits and compensation programs while also assisting with payroll preparation.
Roles, Responsibilities, and Priorities
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
- Benefits Administration
- Conducts benefits orientation for new employees, guiding them through enrollment in eligible benefit programs.
- Accurately enters and updates benefit enrollments, status changes, and terminations within the HRIS and payroll.
- Manages all aspects of COBRA, including the timely mailing of required notices, processing elections and handling payments.
- Assists in the preparation and distribution of both written and verbal communications regarding benefits, including open enrollment, new plan offerings, and changes to existing plans.
- Responds to employee inquiries related to benefit plans and claims resolution, while maintaining strong vendor relationships to investigate and resolve discrepancies with a focus on exceptional customer service.
- Supports the administration of the 401(k) plan, overseeing elections, contributions, distributions, data management, and reporting.
- Maintains and administers employee workers' compensation claims, including partnering with external vendor to ensure effective resolution.
- Administers employee leave programs by tracking, processing, and ensuring timely submission of necessary forms and accurate payment.
- Assists in the coordination and accuracy of Form 5500 filings to ensure compliance and reporting requirements are met.
- Maintains compliance with ERISA, COBRA and HIPAA standards and requirements.
- Responsible for the reconciliation and timely processing of all benefit invoices.
- Compensation Administration
- Works closely with the payroll team to ensure accurate and timely processing of wages, compensation changes, and benefit deductions.
- Participates in salary surveys to assess and enhance the organization's competitive position in the market.
- Keeps abreast of the latest compensation and benefits regulations to ensure compliance and best practices.
- General
- Oversees the accuracy and flow of data within the HRIS to ensure reliable information management.
- Keeps employee records current and ensures that all required new hire documentation is accurately completed and filed.
- Monitors compliance with training, continuing education, professional licenses, and certifications.
- Manages the employee recognition program to celebrate achievements and foster a positive workplace culture.
- Assists the human resources team with various tasks as needed.

Education and experience- High school diploma with some college level coursework in accounting and/or business is required.
- Minimum 3 years of human resources experience required.

- One year in benefits/compensation related position required.
- Must possess beginner knowledge of labor laws and regulations
- Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
