OVERVIEW: Are you a hands-on HR professional looking for an opportunity to make a real impact? Johns Disposal is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to oversee daily HR functions, support employees, and ensure compliance with company policies and employment regulations. This is a key role in fostering a positive work environment and driving HR initiatives that enhance employee experience.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage day-to-day HR operations, including employee relations, compensation, benefits, and leave administration.
- Oversee compliance tracking, including mandatory and voluntary training programs, and certifications.
- Work as a team with the Safety Manager; responsible for various safety training, tracking, and safety-related tasks.
- Manage employee onboarding, including orientation and recognition programs.
- Maintain accurate HR records, employee files, and HRIS data management.
- Support managers and employees with HR-related inquiries, policies, and procedures.
- Conduct or assist with investigations, corrective actions, and terminations as needed.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and best practices.
- Stay informed on HR trends, talent management strategies, and employment law updates.
- Prepare reports and documentation, including EEO-1, affirmative action plans, and employee handbooks.
- Manage unemployment claims and employment verifications.
- Serve as a backup for recruiting and safety-related tasks.

- Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- At least one year of human resource management experience is preferred.

- Any combination or education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job.
- SHRM-CP is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
