HR Generalist
Location: Garland, TX (On-site 3 days/week)
Type: Full-Time 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $35-40/hour
We are supporting a well-established organization in the communications technology and field services industry in the search for a skilled HR Generalist to join their team in Garland, TX. This is a newly created, full-time, contract-to-hire role designed to support recent growth-including the integration of a Canadian workforce following a recent acquisition.
This position reports to the HR Manager and will play a key role in supporting day-to-day HR operations and employee relations across both U.S. and Canadian locations. The ideal candidate brings a strong generalist background with a focus on corporate office support, and has practical experience navigating employment matters in both countries.
About the Role
This is a hands-on generalist role focused on delivering proactive HR support to managers and employees. You'll work closely with leadership and field teams to ensure consistent application of HR policies, while helping to foster a positive and compliant workplace culture. This environment is best suited for someone who thrives in a practical, operations-driven setting versus a highly polished corporate environment. Strong communication skills and sound judgment are essential for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with managers on a range of employee relations issues, including disciplinary actions and performance concerns.
- Conduct and document employee investigations in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
- Support supervisors in timecard review and timekeeping compliance; coach employees on timekeeping policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance and coaching to front-line managers on HR practices, employee engagement, and policy interpretation.
- Assist with the integration and ongoing support of employees in Canada following a recent acquisition.
- Support compliance with employment laws, regulations, and internal HR processes in both U.S. and Canadian contexts.
- Collaborate with HR leadership and cross-functional teams to support broader organizational initiatives.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience with a strong foundation in employee relations, manager support, and corporate office operations.
- Experience working across both U.S. and Canadian HR landscapes
- Proven ability to manage sensitive employee relations matters and conduct thorough investigations.
- Strong working knowledge of timekeeping policies and common workforce systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to build trust and credibility with diverse stakeholders.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Must be based in the U.S. and available to work on-site in Garland, TX three days per week.
