Modern Salon & Spa and HC Beauty are seeking a self-driven, experienced Human Resources Generalist to support all HR functions across both companies. This is a highly autonomous, solo HR role-you will be the only dedicated HR professional on staff, responsible for leading and executing all aspects of human resources with support from leadership but without a larger HR team to lean on.

You'll be the go-to for everything from employee relations to payroll, benefits, compliance, and recruiting. The ideal candidate is hands-on, resourceful, and confident managing a wide HR scope independently in a fast-paced, multi-location environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Payroll & Benefits Administration - Process multi-state payroll using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Handle all benefit enrollment, updates, and employee inquiries.
  • Employee Relations - Serve as the primary contact for employee concerns. Provide empathetic, practical guidance and foster a respectful, positive work environment.
  • HR Strategy & Influence - Collaborate closely with company leaders to drive people-first HR strategies. Influence culture and performance initiatives without formal HR peers.
  • Compliance & Policies - Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies. Keep meticulous records and maintain audit readiness.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding - Manage job postings, screening, and onboarding. Ensure a strong first impression and seamless employee integration.
  • Training & Development - Support performance management, learning initiatives, and growth opportunities for employees.
  • General HR Administration - Maintain HRIS data, produce reports, and provide general HR support across teams.

What You Must Bring

  • Experience - At least 3 years of hands-on, comprehensive HR Generalist experience across multiple HR disciplines.
  • Autonomy - Proven ability to independently manage an HR function with limited internal resources or backup.
  • Influence & Leadership - Confidence guiding leaders and employees through trust and expertise.
  • Payroll Knowledge - Solid experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar platforms.
  • HR Expertise - Working knowledge of employment laws, benefits, and HR best practices.
  • Communication & Organization - Strong judgment, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

  • Experience in the beauty, retail, or service industry
