Title: Director of Human Resources
Location: Virginia Beach, VA (offers relocation)
Compensation: $150,000-$170,000 + 15%
Position Overview
The Human Resources Director plays a key strategic role in aligning the organization's talent strategy with broader business goals. This position is responsible for leading enterprise-wide HR initiatives that build a strong foundation for future HR support across the business. Working closely with HR colleagues and business leaders, this role ensures the delivery of impactful, value-driven HR solutions while emphasizing project execution, strategic insight, and operational excellence across U.S. and Canadian operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement scalable HR processes and procedures, including job aids and standard operating protocols, to support organizational efficiency and scalability.
- Create and manage change communication strategies that ensure alignment and clarity among key stakeholders.
- Oversee enterprise-wide workforce programs such as talent planning, organizational structure design, and leadership pipeline development in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Monitor project results and offer strategic insights to enhance ongoing initiatives and optimize business performance.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level reports and presentations with data analysis, visuals, and recommendations to guide leadership decisions.
- Champion people strategies that help the organization reach both immediate and long-term goals.
- Lead efforts related to employee development, talent reviews, and succession plans.
- Advise on workplace culture, employee engagement, and HR best practices.
- Support leaders with performance management activities including coaching, career guidance, and, when required, disciplinary processes.
- Partner with business units to enhance team performance, employee satisfaction, and retention.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations to reduce risk.
- Support M&A activity by assisting with talent assessments, cultural integration, timeline planning, and related communications.
- Identify risks tied to workforce changes, transitions, and integration efforts, and develop mitigation plans.
- Create tools and frameworks to support efficient M&A processes in the future.
- Promote and support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives to ensure workforce representation aligns with community demographics.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a similar discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience, particularly in areas such as project management, M&A, process improvement, or HR consulting.
- Familiarity with Workday is a plus.
- Willingness to travel within the U.S. and Canada (up to 30-50% as needed).
- Experience supporting a geographically dispersed workforce.
Preferred Skills & Abilities
- Deep understanding of key HR areas such as organizational development, talent management, employee relations, performance systems, DEI, and compliance with applicable labor laws.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams and leadership levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
- Demonstrated success in managing HR initiatives within dynamic, fast-paced environments.
