The Director of Human Resources position has high visibility within the organization and is an essential part of supporting the leadership team and all corporate staff and consultants. This position is one of an individual contributor who provides both strategic leadership and active hand-on responsibility for the operations of all HR functions including, but not limited to, recruiting corporate staff, corporate payroll, on-boarding, terminations, development and administration of HR policies and procedures, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, compliance, training and development, employee engagement, and corporate culture.
The Director of Human Resources reports to the CEO and works diligently to ensure the CEO's vision of promoting and maintaining a uniquely positive corporate culture is carried forward. The DHR collaborates with the CEO and department heads in planning and implementing short and long-term goals, objectives, and policies that have a positive impact on the business.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, unquestionable ethics, have a "can-do" attitude, be genuinely interested in helping people, be proactive and be empathetic in their approach when working with all levels of the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a strategic partner that supports the CEO/Founder's vision through effective decision-making, project management, and execution of strategic initiatives and goals
- Act as an extension of the CEO in representing to external parties and vendors
- Manage the hiring and on-boarding needs; including but not limited to, screening job candidates, interviewing, checking references, extending offers, and conducting new hire orientation
- Oversee the health, dental, vision, life, retirement plans (401-k), profit-sharing, and other benefits which may be offered in the future
- Establish and oversee the performance review process for corporate employees
- Promote team integration and cross-functional communication and collaboration
- Oversee relationship challenges between corporate coworkers
- Execute the administration of the bi-weekly payroll and data entry for corporate employees
- Review and process all corporate employee PTO requests
- Establish benchmarks for measuring the talent within the organization
- Maintain all employment records and employee data
- Manage state unemployment and worker's compensation claims
- Establish and maintain all Company policies and procedures related to employment matters
- Coach managers and lead recognition of employee efforts
- Design and lead soft-skills training programs for managers and employees
- Identify and act on core problems or opportunities to improve people-related business processes
- Manage company communication to employees
- Manage, update and maintain the Employee Handbook
- Direct and respond to any employee or task force related legal actions brought against the Company (Unemployment Claims, Workers Comp Claims, EEOC, DOL, etc.)

- Ability to operate at a tactical, strategic, and operational level in a growing environment
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills to assist with the daily operation of the organization and give positive guidance to staff
- Extensive knowledge of talent development, employee engagement, and change management practices
- Broad knowledge of labor laws and legal practices related to employment matters

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Prior management experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Prior experience supporting the C - Suite
- Prior experience in a startup, or early-stage organization
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field
- Minimum 10-years prior experience in business including managing a significant human resources function or department within the business
- HR certification eg SPHR, SHRM-SCP
