We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Human Resources to lead HR operations and risk initiatives. This role is ideal for a confident and proactive HR leader with hospitality experience in California. You'll be the go-to partner for all HR, payroll, and risk-related matters while helping shape and sustain a positive and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Culture
- Provide leadership on organizational development, employee relations, and compliance.
- Foster a positive culture across the team and management.
- Regularly evaluate HR strategies and systems to ensure scalability and alignment with company growth.
People Operations & Compliance
- Manage all aspects of HR, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and terminations.
- Oversee performance evaluations, disciplinary procedures, and HR documentation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (California expertise preferred).
Payroll & Risk Oversight
- Oversee payroll processing, auditing timesheets, and tip distributions.
- Manage HRIS and payroll systems.
- Lead internal risk management programs and maintain safety protocols.
- Draft and manage department budgets related to HR, legal, and risk.
Employee Experience & Benefits
- Design and implement competitive compensation, performance appraisal, and incentive programs.
- Respond to employee questions and issues related to benefits, compensation, and policies.
- Stay current on employment law and HR best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master's preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, ideally within the hospitality sector.
- Proven track record in payroll management and risk oversight.
- Deep knowledge of California labor laws.
- SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills.
