The Santa Clarita Community College District/College of the Canyons is seeking two full-time Human Resources Coordinator (Systems Support) staff members in the Human Resources Office.
Salary placement will be on Range 40 of Classified Salary Schedule B. Initial salary step placement for new employees is customarily at step 1, 2, or 3 ($6,697.00 / $7,098.00 / $7,505.00 per month) of this 20-step salary range .
Probationary period for new Classified Represented employees is six months . Work year is 12 calendar months. The normal workweek for this position is 40 hours. Paid holiday, discretionary, and sick time are provided. Ten vacation days accrue during the first year of employment. A regular work schedule will be assigned, with the ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule as needed with supervisor approval.

Position Description:
Under the direction of the Executive Director, Human Resources, the Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources-related Human Resource System (HRS), entries and reporting into the Los Angeles County Office of Education, District, and other related internal and external institutional/governmental Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) computerized software and systems. Performs a variety of highly skilled, specialized and technical employee and human resources data functions on behalf of the District. Prepares employee historical payroll, employment, and other related statistical data reports. Performs specialized and technical work in computerized data entry and retrieval necessary to carry out the Human Resources Systems functions of the department. Acts as a liaison with the Payroll Office, Instruction Office, Volunteer Bureau & Student Employment, Business Services and other internal and external entities in meeting the department's needs. Assists with training and staff development activities related to the use of information technology and applications software; performs evaluation and testing of applications as needed. Assures accuracy and conformance with established policies and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned.Example of Duties Essential Duties:

• Provides user support to Human Resources staff on the use of the Los Angeles County Human Resources System (HRS), the District's HRIS information management systems and reporting software. Responds to requests from Human Resources administrators and staff for reports and information from these resources.
• Maintains knowledge of, interprets, and ensures compliance with current legislation, Federal, State and Education Code laws, CalPERS and CalSTRS retirement regulations, collective bargaining agreements, employee contract provisions, and other District policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to entry into the LACOE HRS and other HRIS data software.
• Processes and enters employment-related documents for all new and current employees into HRS/HRIS databases. Performs high level analysis in order to maintain an accurate employee database and related District tables, including verifying and updating all personnel related information.
• Researches, interprets, and determines employees' applicable retirement plan membership. Clarifies related employee information through the coordination and review of employee documentation, communication with the Los Angeles County Office of Education, correspondence with other districts, and data obtained from CalSTRS and CalPERS retirement agencies.
• Performs high level analysis in order to maintain an accurate employee database and related District tables, including verifying and updating all personnel related information.
• Maintains timely and accurate implementation and updates of District salary schedules and creation of work calendars in accordance with collective bargaining agreements, employee contract provisions, and other District and regulatory agency policies, procedures and academic calendars to comply with compensation and workday requirements.
• Provides regular and timely reports to appropriate supervisors when requested. Notifies the Executive Director on a regular and timely basis of any inaccuracies and plans for correction.
• As directed, provides general support to the Human Resources Office staff and assists with covering the front desk as needed.
• Develops functional improvements that will be used by software programmers in enhancement of system, and for troubleshooting and researching problems related to application modules in the county HRS system, district HRIS, and all related data and reporting software. Regularly attends training and meetings to maintain expertise in relevant systems and software.
• Acts as a liaison between Human Resources, Payroll, Instruction, Volunteer Bureau & Student Employment, Business Services and other relevant departments, to facilitate, troubleshoot and coordinate the complete and timely entries of employee information.
• Conducts regular and timely audits of employee data being entered, relating to the processing of new employees and changes to existing employees, to meet the requirements of auditors.
• Conducts research, compiles data and produces scheduled and on-demand reports as requested.
• Ensures compliance with record retention policies and procedures in order to assure the security and accessibility of documents and records.
• Coordinates flow of employment-related documents for all new, past and current employees between the Human Resources department and Payroll, CSEA, COCFA, AFT, Business Services, Volunteer Bureau & Student Employment, Instruction and other internal and external entities. Creates and maintains tracking databases and records documenting this effective flow.
• Composes and submits requests for departmental access, or removal of access, to the HRS system, CalSTRS, CalPERS and other secured databases. Coordinates with the Executive Director on the various permission and access levels for each program. Maintain accurate records of access.
• Assists with planning staff training programs and provides individual training in use of assigned systems in one-on-one and small group environments.
• Attends and participates in user group meetings, training sessions and relevant conferences.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Demonstrated Knowledge and Abilities:
Position requires knowledge of:
• Computer applications including database management systems, word processor, spreadsheets, web-based technologies and other types of computer software.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software (Word/Excel/Outlook), office organization and other related skill areas.
• Record keeping and database management techniques.
