The Choice is excited to manage a direct hire search for an HR Benefits Manager for our client- a national philanthropic/environmental advocacy organization. This opportunity would be a great fit for HR professionals who are interested in growing in their HR benefits career.


The Benefits Manager will be responsible for providing support and guidance to employees on all issues related to benefits and confidential HR systems administration. Primary focus areas will include benefits administration, and data management within the organization's HRIS - ADP Workforce NOW.


The ideal candidate will have/will be:

  • DMV-area based. Must be available for in person days in downtown DC at 2-3 days a week
  • At least 3 years of HR experience. Must have previous experience managing benefits administration and open enrollment.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems - ADP Workforce Now (highly preferred)
  • Knowledge of federal and District of Columbia employment and labor laws and EEO compliance.
  • College degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience considered.
  • Industry certification would be a large plus i.e. - PHR, SHRM-CP, CEBS

Job Duties will include:

  • Serve as the in-house advisor on all benefit programs to employees and prospective candidates.
  • Manage benefits administration and record management including vendor service delivery and quality control; analyze benefit effectiveness, plan experience and competitive trends collected from offboarding meetings.
  • Review and reconcile monthly benefit billing statements prior to payment; work with vendors to rectify billing/enrollment changes/errors.
  • Manage benefit orientation during open enrollment and new hire onboarding.
  • Manage Annual Open Enrollment through self-service ADP portal, coordinating annual OE benefit fair with brokers and vendors.
  • Serve as escalation point for complex benefits issues.
  • Manage, monitor/audit COBRA administration.
  • Manage HR offboarding services including COBRA guidance and insurance portability issues.
  • Manage content on SharePoint related to benefits.
  • Provide utilization reports from HRIS as requested.
  • Provide regular updates, relevant metrics, and problem-solving suggestions for the SVP, HR and Administration.
  • Manage compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws and completes required reporting in a timely fashion.
  • Manage staff recognition and special communications.
  • Research market trends and provide feedback to sustain competitive benefit programs.
  • Prepare recommendations for SVP, HR and Administration, in consideration of competitive opportunities to support retention.

The office is located in downtown Washington, DC and is in close walking distance to several Metro lines. Beautiful, modern office space. All candidates must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19.
