Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager to join our dynamic team for a copper mining project in the Western USA. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all HSE policies and procedures to ensure a safe and environmentally compliant working environment. This role is crucial to our commitment to operational excellence and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential safety and environmental issues.
  • Lead and manage HSE audits, inspections, and incident investigations, ensuring thorough documentation and reporting.
  • Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees and contractors to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to integrate HSE considerations into project planning and execution.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and regulatory changes, ensuring continuous improvement in HSE performance.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and stakeholders regarding HSE matters.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of HSE experience in the mining or heavy industrial sector, preferably within the copper industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local HSE regulations and standards.
  • Proven track record in developing and implementing HSE programs and initiatives.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
