Accountable for the management and performance of the Brown & Root's HSE Department throughout assigned Business Line(s). Provides overall leadership and support of all offices and field projects, within assigned Business Line(s). Support Brown & Root's effort to ensure a safe, healthy, and environmentally friendly workplace for our employees, our clients, subcontractors, and the public. Support of corporate HSE initiatives driving our ZERO Harm 24/7 culture. A ZERO Harm culture is one in which all incidents are intolerable and there is a desire and commitment to make sure we do everything in our power to avoid any situation that put our employees, subcontractors or clients at risk. Works directly with assigned Business Line(s) leadership and executive management. Must be a positive influence within the organization. Knowledgeable of HSE systems & process, applicable HSE regulations, computer based HSE programs, trending applications, etc. Has an understanding field work activity, processes, and practices related to maintenance, turnarounds and construction.
Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for developing and/or supporting the development of HSE strategies at various levels within the organization.
- Responsible for driving continuous improvements.
- Monitor and evaluate existing health, safety and worker's compensation performance.
- Provide guidance and support the operations regarding the return-to-work process for injured Employees.
- Support the education and training of Operations management and staff in the areas of health, safety and worker's compensation best practices.
- Responsible to support E-Compliance management within assigned Business Line(s) as applicable.
- Support Business Development as needed.
- Interface with Client Management.
- Ensure Incident Investigations are conducted as required.
- Interface with governmental officials as required, i.e. OSHA, DEQ, etc.
- Work with Operations to ensure company processes and procedures are being followed.
- Work closely with HR to ensure processes, such as D&A testing are being appropriately conducted.
- Support our Safety Energy process, ensure compliance and track and trend results.
- Ensure Structured Safety Evaluations are scheduled, conducted, and corrective actions issued in completed.
- Coach and mentor Operations & HSE professionals as required.
- Ensure project specific Safety Plans are developed, reviewed and updated as required.
- Support efforts to ensure Sub-contractors are properly evaluated and managed.
- Provides HSE information and guidance to Business Line(s) management.
- Support company Recognition Programs.
- Provide written reports and make timely notifications as required.
- Able to travel as needed.
Education and Experience:
- Degree in HSE or related field or equivalent work experience is required.
- Experience in similar position, with similar responsibilities, and experience directing Area or Regional HSE Managers is required.
